This beautiful mug is handcrafted by me on my
wheel in a Medium Dark Speckled Clay. When this
Mug was at its Leather Hard Stage (before its first firing
of 1,800 degrees), I dipped the outside of the mug into
a white stoneware clay that prepared the Mug’s surface for me to
reveal the darker clay beneath. I carved a field of flowers so
that the glaze breaks over these flowers to show that toasty brown
clay. ( If you look closely on the bottom of the
mug you will see the white stoneware peeking through ).
There is a butterfly hiding in the field that the glaze
has almost covered up as it fills the wings.
If you look closely, you will see it.
This mug holds
14 fluid ounces to the brim and is 4 1/4 inches
high and 3 1/2 inches at the mugs widest…
…(not counting the handle)…
I hope you enjoy this piece
as much as I enjoyed making it.
